Helping Hands was a partnership among churches and community members in Starkville for over a decade. The project helped people with emergency funds paid directly to a utility bill, rent, or vehicle repair. These funds helped families avoid a slippery slope toward eviction that one bad bill can start.
Helping Hands closed before Covid, and evictions escalated in Starkville. The Starkville Community Foundation made its first mission to restart Helping Hands. In partnership with Starkville Strong and Trinity Presbyterian Church, Helping Hands will operate every Tuesday from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at 607 Hospital Rd.
Participants can receive up to $250 in assistance toward a bill once every 6 months (no more than 4 times).
Participants will bring the bill with them, and once courses are completed, the bill will be paid directly to the company owed.
An intake form and three courses are required to receive assistance. Participants may be referred to Starkville Strong or other more intensive programs as needed.
Welcome! We are glad you are here.
